Description

Job Purpose: Primary focus is, cutting release and blanket purchase orders to suppliers as needed. Working with suppliers and developing relationships. Working with Accounting to ensure accurate and timely payment of supplier invoices. Ensuring that inventory issues are looked into and addressed, preventing downtime.

The person in this position is committed to assuring that Stella & Chewy's, LLC produces safe, legal and wholesome pet food products that meet our consumer's expectations.

Essential Job duties:
  • Performs daily review to identify and execute purchase requirements of raw materials.
  • Expedites or delays raw material purchase orders as needed.
  • Creates both discrete purchase orders and blanket purchase order/releases. Verifies prices against any contractual agreements and/or market based priced raw materials. Becomes knowledgeable of purchased commodities.
  • Ensures that TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of raw materials is considered and implemented when placing purchase orders to ensure the greatest value.
  • Enters shipments into Transportation Management System (TMS) and oversees communication between 3rd party carriers, 3PLs, and the organization.
  • Manages the outside storage of raw material and transfers to and from the plant.
  • Acknowledges Purchase Order receipts and delivery date commitments from suppliers.
  • Proactively identifies delivery gaps, provides awareness, and expedites solutions to ensure production plans are successfully achieved.
  • Assists in identifying and executing companywide and departmental continuous improvement activities.
  • Performs financial receiving of inbound materials in D365. Validates physical receipt, addresses errors, and drives continuous improvement of the receiving process.
  • Facilitates Supplier/Quality returns and resolution of Accounts Payable invoice discrepancies.
  • Works with Quality to ensure all raw materials are from approved suppliers and have proper documentation (i.e. COA) before delivery occurs.
  • Works with Inventory Control/Warehouse/Operations on raw material consumption and receiving issues.
  • Assists with MRO/Indirect purchases as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree is required, Bachelor's degree in supply chain, data management, quality assurance or similar field preferred.
  • 2+ years in Procurement, data management, quality assurance or related field.
  • Experience in New Product Development (NPD) process is preferred, but not required.
  • Proven success in managing purchasing execution and supplier performance.
  • Food manufacturing and MRP implementation experiences are preferred, but not required.
  • Collaboration across different functions of the organization (i.e. marketing, quality).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a solid track record of developing positive supplier relationships.
  • Experienced with using a major ERP system (i.e. Microsoft AX, D365, SAP, etc.). Microsoft Office suite experience specifically demonstrated strength within Excel.
  • Highly detail oriented with strong statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment both in collaborative and independently.
  • Ability and willingness to make recommendations when a potential process change would benefit the organization.
