Introduction

Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI ), located near Oshkosh, Wisconsin , is looking to hire a full time Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber. WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary

As a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Diagnosing and treating assigned patients.
  • Completing initial assessments and prescribing medications as determined by privileges granted by WMHI Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary treatment team (i.e., nurses, social workers, therapeutic services staff, and PCTs).
  • Exercising independent judgment.
  • Participating directly in the management and care of patients.

Salary Information

Starting annual salary* is approximately $153,800, plus excellent benefits.

    • Salary includes $10.00 /hour add-on for Psychiatric Certification.
  • 12-month probationary period is required. Pay schedule and range is 11/01.
  • Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.

Job Details

All appointees will be required to complete a pre-employment health assessment including a TB screen prior to their start date.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • License or eligible for license as an APNP with an emphasis in psychiatric/mental health by the State of Wisconsin. Eligible includes currently registered as an APNP in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in WI OR you are within 3 months of graduation from a professional APNP program with an emphasis in psychiatric/ mental health. L icense must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • Training and/or experience completing psychiatric assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Training and/or experience developing treatment plans and providing medication management.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Training and/or experience providing patient education on psychiatric diagnoses and treatments.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience working with patients with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Ability to function independently in managing psychiatric patients in an inpatient facility.
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Record software (e.g. Cerner, Epic, etc.).
