Job Description:

As a member of the Sustainability team, the Manager of Social and Environmental Impact will support transformational social and environmental programs that help CoBank achieve important mission related goals, including providing support to underserved communities. In collaboration with Sustainability Team leadership and other leaders across the back, will develop and own an overall strategy that incorporates numerous organizational efforts supporting underserved communities and advances engagement with key stakeholders. Work in close partnership with broader Sustainability team on various projects to develop and advance our environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.

Essential Functions:
  • Supports the incubation process to strengthen existing social and environmental programs and pilots new efforts with the goal of scaling transformational concepts through new and existing relationships.
  • Creates, coordinates, and implements programs and initiatives to advance social and environmental initiatives that respects, values, and supports the strategic direction of the bank.
  • Cultivates relationships with external community partners, customers and internal stakeholders (Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Banking teams, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, to name a few) to source, inform, build, and scale ideas.
  • Support the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in order to help CoBank serve our mission by helping to reach individuals in underserved communities.
  • Participates in grant research and proposal writing to execute on program opportunities for CoBank and our customers.
  • Analyzes market trends, competitor landscapes, and industry best practices to inform social and environmental strategic decision-making.
  • Ability to effectively convey complex subjects into actionable initiatives along with effective roll-out and implementation through creation of training and educational content.
  • As directed, work closely with Sustainability team members to complete various financial, administrative, and other reporting and analysis as assigned or as necessary.
  • Conduct benchmarking and research on environmental and social topic areas, providing recommendations when appropriate.
  • Contribute to advancement of companys overall sustainability strategy.
  • Support the development of the annual Sustainability Report and supporting materials.
  • Collects, synthesizes and summarizes information for inclusion in reports, projects, and content development.
  • Identify ESG data requirements and potential opportunities to enhance ESG data quality.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree required

Work Experience:
  • 6 years of relevant experience, required
  • 4 years of relevant experience in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, financial services, research or consulting, required
  • Understanding of corporate responsibility & sustainability best practice and trends.
  • Experience with the development of strategic partnerships and effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders across the community, philanthropic, business, and government sectors.
  • Ability to facilitate a positive work environment.
  • Effective at both oral and written communication; good presentation skills.
  • Strong time management skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with various parties of different subject areas.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow a project plan.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

About CoBank:

The typical base pay range for this role is between $127,320 - $177,038. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
